Understanding Our Need In the Pandemic

On Being with Krista Tippet interview with Catherine Runyan:
What's happening in our nervous systems?
Clinical psychologist Christine Runyan explains the physiological effects of a year of pandemic and social isolation — what’s happened at the level of stress response and nervous system, the literal mind-body connection. And she offers simple strategies to regain our fullest capacities for the world ahead.

Community Outreach Opportunities

Mid-February, we began a new outreach effort in support of Sound & Spirit interfaith agency, which serves the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless. Most-requested items are warm clothing, especially gently used men’s coats (needed through May) and Carepax (needed year-round.)

Carepax are gallon-size Ziplock bags with essentials (click below for details) for people living on the streets.

Other donation options - non-perishable food (pasta, beans, oatmeal, cereal, peanut butter and jelly, canned fruit and vegetables, etc.; avoid glass jars.) Song & Spirit collects food on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.  They welcome Aldi gift cards.  Depending on what food is donated on any given day, the volunteers use the cards to supplement what has been collected.

There are two ways you can support this effort:
1.  We will have a monthly collection in the parking lot of the PCAC on each 2nd
Sunday from 2-3 p.m., beginning Sun, Feb. 14.
2.  Items can also be dropped off anytime to a bin that will be on the Ernzen’s porch (46461 Arboretum, Plymouth). Both collections will be ongoing, until further notice.

Please bring food items to the PCAC on the 2nd Sunday of the month until 30 minutes after the service.  Non-food items can also be dropped off at the bin on Ernzen's porch anytime.

Northville Civic Concern continues to welcome your food donations.  Items can be dropped of directly to NCC weekdays between 9-1; call (248) 344-1033 first to confirm someone is there.

Healing Sunday Services

Friends of Unity regularly dedicates the intention of our Sunday service to healing.  These services lift up those among us with healing needs and end with mini-sessions in healing modalities such as reiki, generously given by members of our congregation.  Watch the calendar for upcoming dates.
