God in the midst of me is mighty. ~ Ernest Wilson

What We Believe

Unity is rooted in Christianity but with a more progressive and metaphysical approach than traditional Christian theology. We like to consider Friends of Unity a place for "Christians With Questions". We’re also a great place for “Buddhists or Muslims” with questions! If you've given up on traditional churches and organized religion but haven't given up on your spiritual questions, the idea of a Higher Power, or your spiritual growth, we think you'll feel right at home here.

5 Unity principles for applied spirituality:

  • That which is called God is the Source and Creator of all: everywhere present, through all, as all. Not separate but indwelling; not apart from, but a part of all and equally accessible for all.
  • We are spiritual beings having an amazing human experience. All people, all creation, is inherently spiritual and therefore eternal.
  • We create our life experiences through our way of thinking, feeling and acting.
  • Oneness is realized personally through prayer, contemplation, and meditation.
  • Knowledge of these spiritual principles is not enough. We must live them.

At Friends of Unity we are devoted to learning and living these universal spiritual principles that have been referenced and taught in every faith tradition. We offer spiritual tools rather than rules.

Commitment to Spiritual Social Action

Friends of Unity provides ongoing financial and practical support to the larger community in which we each live. Themes that guide our selection of recipients are: serving the homeless, the hungry, the illiterate, and animal shelters.  We also participate in community activities such as spring and fall yard cleanup for seniors and preparing food distribution for Open Door Ministries.  Our service extends across the globe as members work together to create a more just world.

Young Friends & Families

At Friends of Unity, we celebrate our young friends and the vital role of the family.  Young ones of all ages are always welcome in our service.  In addition, we invite you to visit the Families tab to learn more about our resources and vision for young friends and families.

Creativity & Music

Friends of Unity celebrates the role of art and music in our lives, both individually and as a community.  We are grateful for the dynamic art displays at the Plymouth Community Arts Council building where we meet on Sundays as well as the uplifting gift of positive music at our weekly services.
