"People ask, 'What is Unity?'; Unity is a way of life that influences every facet of our living." ~ Kathy Harwood Long

December 2020

Dear Friend,

I call you friend since I imagine, if you’ve made it this far on the FoU website, you are a spiritual seeker. When I discovered Unity years ago, I did not know I was a spiritual seeker, but I was drawn to a certain energy in friends. Those intent on thriving instead of just surviving exhibited a lightness of spirit that compelled me to seek. Friends of Unity is for spiritual seekers, those intent on living, truly living--and learning--and serving. We at FoU seek out ideas and wisdom teachings that are a common spiritual thread, evident throughout the faith traditions of the world, science, indigenous peoples and cultures, music, art, nature--everywhere!

Whether you explore and learn with us for a day, or claim us as your spiritual community, I bow to that in you which has compelled you to search.   Unity has fostered  ‘unitive’ consciousness for over 130 years--a way of being and living that is based in the oneness of inclusivity; this is a core value at FoU. I have a great intrinsic trust that you will discover acceptance at FoU. And, if you stick around with the many friends and their unique perspectives, you’ll discover people who dig deep to do the personal work of transformation in consciousness and ultimately create a wealth of love and caring in the world. We call this ‘deep spiritual community’.

Wherever you are in your seeking, Friend, I ,and we at Friends of Unity, join you in the great spiritual evolution manifesting on earth during this poignant time in history.

Commitment to Spiritual Social Action

Friends of Unity provides ongoing financial and practical support to the larger community in which we each live. Themes that guide our selection of recipients are: serving the homeless, the hungry, the illiterate, and animal shelters.  We also participate in community activities such as spring and fall yard cleanup for seniors and preparing food distribution for Open Door Ministries.  Our service extends across the globe as members work together to create a more just world.

Young Friends & Families

At Friends of Unity, we celebrate our young friends and the vital role of the family.  Young ones of all ages are always welcome in our service.  In addition, we invite you to visit the Families tab to learn more about our resources and vision for young friends and families.

Creativity & Music

Friends of Unity celebrates the role of art and music in our lives, both individually and as a community.  We are grateful for the dynamic art displays at the Plymouth Community Arts Council building where we meet on Sundays as well as the uplifting gift of positive music at our weekly services.

Celebrating Ten Years

Friends of Unity gratefully celebrated 10 years as a community during October 2020.  We invite you to enjoy a PowerPoint look back at our Ten Years Together! View it here.
